Steps Toward Sustainability

An investment in the future

Providing consulting services for our clients on greenhouse gas reductions is one of our business activities. DNV KEMA’s innovative leadership brings applicable new technologies and solution to the table, for example in smart grid development, energy storage, green gas (including gas transport methods) and wind energy. Other projects focus on future concepts such as blue energy, energy neutral cities and communities, electric vehicles, innovative railway concepts and services, and many more.

The new DNV KEMA office in Oakland (CA, USA) was awarded a LEED Gold certificate by the U.S. Green Building Council for the sustainability measures that were implemented there. This is a key example of our investments in sustainability. LEED is one of the world’s premier standards for third-party rated green buildings. This achievement is particularly remarkable given the fact that all of the LEED consulting, documentation, and commissioning was done by our Sustainable Buildings and Operations team in the U.S.

Our employees are an integral part of implementing the required changes towards sustainability through their activities in our labs and offices, as well as indirectly through their projects. In all activities we strive towards creating a sustainable planet and business. DNV KEMA’s internal sustainability taskforce coordinates and facilitates processes and encourages all staff to take part in this joint effort. Sustainable behavior and activities are supported and stimulated. Furthermore, we have provided an intranet site with specific information, a monthly newsletter, workshops, webinars, sustainable operations checklists and a guidance policy to our employees. The taskforce also coordinates DNV KEMA’s Sustainability Fund, and measures, advises and reports about sustainability actions to management. And finally, at the local level we have created “Green Teams” to implement sustainability measures in all our offices.
